Course Description:

This comprehensive course offers firefighters and officers an opportunity to sharpen their existing skills or learn new and efficient techniques crucial for the essential task of delivering water to fires. Participants will engage in hands-on practice of various essential skills necessary for effective engine company operations.

This course is intended for experienced firefighters with a minimum of three (1) years of service within a fire department. 

Participants will be equipped with practical skills and knowledge essential for effectively executing engine company operations in various emergency scenarios.

Gear Requirements:

Participants should bring NFPA-compliant Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and an NFPA-compliant Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). It is preferred that students bring two SCBA cylinders.

Advancing Lines

Strategies for deploying hoses through various challenges, including:

  • Ladders
  • Ground-level and basement deployments

Hose Deployment

Students will practice pulling and deploying both charged and uncharged hose lines in various scenarios, including:

  • Interior environments
  • Exterior settings

Hose and Nozzle Selection

Course Type: Lecture & Hands on Training

Understanding proper selection of hoses and nozzles based on the size and type of fire.

Engine Company Responsibilities

Course Type: Lecture & Hands on Training

Discussions and practice on the tactical priorities and responsibilities of engine companies regarding rescue and other operational tasks.
